Stonestreet (as portrayed by MCHS interpretive docent, Clarence Hickey) as he holds his regular office hours the second Sunday of every month.  Learn the realities of 19th century medical treatments as Dr. Stonestreet shares his medical knowledge and teaches visitors to make pills and remove bullets.  12:00-4:00 in the Stonestreet Museum of 19th Century Medicine.  Included with museum admission - $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors & students; free to members.
September 22 Genealogy Club Meeting.  Lost in Time: The Boy in the Iron Coffin, by Deborah Hull-Wallski, Smithsonian researcher. Forensic anthropology and detailed genealogical research identified the remains (and the relatives) of a boy found in an iron coffin in Columbia Heights, DC.  7:30pm at the Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Dr., Rockville, MD.  Click here for more information.

"Everything Old is New Again" - Crafts From the Past. Old-fashioned" crafts have come back into fashion!  Whether you want to learn a new skill or just enjoy an old skill in good company, our Sunday crafting workshops are for you.  With examples from our textile collections to provide inspiration, you'll complete a small project in an afternoon.  Sign up for one, two, three, or all four workshops.  We'll provide the supplies necessary to cross-stitch a small motto, embroider a dishtowel, quilt a coaster, or knit a scarf. At the Beall-Dawson House, Rockville, from 1-4 p.m. Ages 16 and up. Limit 10 participants each session; pre-registration required (301-340-2825). $25 for each workshop, or $80 if you register for all four.  Supplies are included.

October 27 Genealogy Club Meeting.  The Maryland 400, by Linda Reno, who brings to life a little-known Revolutionary War battle and the part played by Montgomery County men. November 11-14 Holiday Shop Around at Strathmore. Save time this holiday shopping season by visiting a dozen museum shops in one convenient location!  As always, the Historical Society shop will be the highlight (if we do say so ourselves) of this wonderful annual event.  The Mansion at Strathmore in Rockville.

December 1-30 Holiday Tours at the Beall-Dawson House.  In keeping with the exhibit in the House, this year's decoration will showcase Christmas at the turn of the (last) century, as the Dawson family might have celebrated the holiday.
