Cocktails, Lipstick & Jazz exhibit

October 15, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - January 22, 2017 @ 4:00 pm

Open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 12:00 to 4:00 pm

Beaded fringe bounced to the syncopated sounds of jazz, while illegal hooch sloshed in long stemmed glasses. The bull market prevailed and it didn’t matter what you bought; stocks only went up. Names of the sport heroes still echo today: Walter Johnson, Babe Ruth, Jack Dempsey and Man O’ War. On the surface, it was a glittering moment in time captured by F. Scott Fitzgerald in stories like The Great Gatsby and “Bernice Bobs Her Hair.” We will exhibit a cross-section of the period with fashions from Paris, speakeasy cocktails, red hot jazz and weekend recreations.

You will not want to miss this exciting exhibit, that will show life in the 1920s like you’ve never seen it before! The Beall-Dawson Museum will be transformed into exhibition space, giving our visitors a chance to see some of the incredible items in our collection. Many of these objects will be on display for the first time! The exhibit will open in the Beall-Dawson Museum on October 15, 2016 and will run through January 22, 2017.

Admission: $5 adults / $3 seniors, students, and active US military / children under 6 free / MCHS members free
