BOOM Speakers Series 2017-2018

From October 2017 to July 2018, Montgomery History presented the exhibit “BOOM: The 1950s in Montgomery County”. Throughout the duration of the exhibit, the BOOM Speakers Series explored diverse facets of community growth, continuity, and change in the County in this decade.

The programs included:

• October 18, 2017: Travel and Leisure in Maryland during Jim Crow 
  
• November 14, 2017: Marriotts and Motor Cars: Made For Each Other
• April 14, 2018: Justice Douglas’s Historic Hike to Save the C&O Canal 
• May 12, 2018: A World Away: Postwar Migration to Montgomery County, 1945-1965 
• June 1, 2018: The Nuclear Age in Montgomery County: The Atomic Energy Commission and its Site at Germantown
