“The Rise and Fall of Telstar: America’s First Communications Satellite”
with Michael Aurele Simons

Thursday, September 2 @ 7:00 p.m.

Summer isn’t over just yet, and there’s still time to take advantage of everything local museums have to offer! Join Michael Aurele Simons, Director of the National Electronics Museum in Linthicum, MD to hear the gripping story of Telstar.

The launch of Telstar in 1962 ushered in a new age of communications. No longer was the Atlantic Ocean a barrier to instantaneous phone calls and live TV broadcasting. But Telstar’s promise was cut short. Learn more about this victim of the Cold War and a changing vision of how humans would work in space.
