September Office Hours with Dr. Stonestreet: “Treating the Wounded from Antietam”
with Dr. Stonestreet (portrayed by Clarence Hickey)
Saturday, September 11, 12:00-4:00 p.m.

Calling all aspiring medics! Join Dr. Stonestreet for hands-on, family-friendly Office Hours Saturday, September 11.

This September commemorates the 159th anniversary of The Battle of Antietam—the single bloodiest day in American military history. Montgomery County’s Dr. Edward Stonestreet was a surgeon with the Union Army then and helped to treat and care for the wounded from Antietam in an Army hospital in Rockville.

Join Dr. Stonestreet for his September Office Hours as he demonstrates, with a life-sized mannequin, how wounded Civil War soldiers were treated. With the backdrop of Civil War medical instruments on display, the bravest visitors will have the chance to lend the doctor a hand in removing Civil War bullets and bandaging the wounds.

Entry is free and no registration is required for this event. We ask that visitors continue to wear a mask while inside the museum. More information on the Stonestreet Museum webpage.
