The launch of Telstar in 1962 ushered in a new age of communications. No longer was the Atlantic Ocean a barrier to instantaneous phone calls and live TV broadcasting. But Telstar’s promise was cut short. Learn more about this victim of the Cold War and a changing vision of how humans would work in space.
