SUMMARY:History Conversations REWIND | Clara Barton – An American Life
DESCRIPTION:with National Park Ranger Kevin Patti |  How did a shy girl born on a New England farm in 1821 break through the barriers that so often confined women to the domestic sphere? How did she go on to have a sixty-year career of public service that touched people all over the world? How did she found the American Red Cross\, an organization that still helps people in need today? And what gave this woman the courage to go where the fighting was taking place during the Civil War\, a place women did not go? This illustrated talk by Park Ranger Kevin Patti from Clara Barton National Historic Site will use photographs from Clara Barton’s life and times to answer these questions and describe the development of her remarkable career.   Originally aired March 4\, 2025. Recording available June 29 – July 6.
