Have you ever wanted to open a drawer at a house museum and look inside?  Upside Down/Inside Out will satisfy that urge, and then some. For a limited time, Rockville’s historic Beall-Dawson Museum will feature museum-quality 19th century American furniture displayed like you’ve never seen it before—all the pieces will be turned over so you can see how they were designed and constructed. You’ll learn how furniture-making techniques have changed over time, discover secret drawers and locks, and, if you look closely, see the signatures (and even delivery instructions!) of the craftsmen who created these timeless treasures. Join us at Upside Down/Inside Out to see the furniture that we collect and admire in an entirely new way! Open April 8, 2017 through June 25, 2017.

A special thank you to the Society of American Period Furniture Makers for partnering with us to create this exhibition.
