Black Resistance Oral History Initiative
Montgomery History’s Black Resistance Oral History Initiative seeks to record the experiences of Black Montgomery Countians following the Civil Rights victories of the 1950s and ‘60s. Our current focus is interviewing those with stories to share about attending the first integrated schools, the fight for equal public accommodations, and moments of collective and individual joy during this time.
If you know someone willing to participate, or wish to contribute an interview yourself, please contact Program Director Adedana Ashebir.
