History Conversations | “What do voters know – and what should we know – about the judges who appear on our ballots?”
September 30 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County and Montgomery History on September 30, 7-8pm, for a Trending Topics Webinar: “What do voters know – and what should we know – about the judges who appear on our ballots?”
The process by which voters in Maryland are expected to choose circuit court judges – the result of compromises over many years – leaves many of us confused. How can we find readily accessible, reliable information on judicial candidates’ qualifications before we go to the polls?
Our panelists will discuss reforms that are being recommended to the State of Maryland to improve the process and what resources are available to voters to help them play a more meaningful role in judicial elections:
Speakers:
-The Honorable Kathleen Dumais, Associate Judge, Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD; Co-Chair, Workgroup to Study Judicial Selection
– The Honorable Maria Oesterreicher, Associate Judge, Carroll County Court
-Ralph Watkins, LWVMD representative on Workgroup to Study Judicial Selection
