Like many other areas throughout the country, Montgomery County experienced unprecedented population growth during the post-World War II era, fueling the demand for new social, educational, commercial, and religious facilities. This presentation surveys Montgomery County’s mid-century religious architecture, examining varying ways that modern architectural theories and technologies were adapted to and compatible with the liturgical and social needs of new and existing religious denominations.
