The Lynching of Sidney Randolph: Original Documents

Montgomery County Circuit Court Papers box: Maryland State Archives, Annapolis.

Research on the lynching of Sidney Randolph has involved the consultation of many primary source documents, including court records, ledgers, minute books, vital records, and other archival resources. These have been sourced from multiple repositories, including the Jane C. Sween Research Library and Special Collections in Rockville, MD; the Maryland State Archives in Annapolis, MD; and the Library of Congress’s Manuscripts Division, District of Columbia Archives, and the National Archives and Records Administration, all in Washington, DC.

Linked here are reference copies of several original documents used in the study of this case. It is not possible to reproduce all documents consulted during this research; therefore, this is merely a small representation of supporting materials. In some cases, images are not professional-quality scans. They are provided for reference only and the documents themselves remain in the custody of the credited institution. Relevant links to the original source institution’s catalog records are found within the citation heading (first indent); links to viewable PDFs of documents are found within the title of the document (second indent).
